Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026. This policy describes how Mentora handles your information when you use our study-abroad platform.

Mentora ("we", "us") provides tools to explore universities, compare programmes, manage applications, and plan your study-abroad journey. We respect your privacy and process data in line with applicable laws, including the GDPR where it applies.

Information we collect

  • Account data: name, email, and authentication identifiers when you sign up or sign in (via our auth provider).
  • Profile data: academic background, target countries, budget, language scores, and preferences you enter during onboarding or in Settings.
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used (e.g. compare, recommendations), and technical logs (IP address, browser type) for security and improvement.
  • Documents: files you upload for visa or application checklists, stored securely in our cloud storage.
  • AI interactions: messages you send to the assistant, used to provide answers and improve support (may be cached temporarily to reduce latency).

How we use your information

  • Personalise university recommendations and comparison scores.
  • Track your application journey, documents, and roadmap progress.
  • Provide AI-assisted guidance grounded in our verified university catalogue.
  • Send service-related communications (e.g. account or security notices).
  • Maintain platform security, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

Legal bases (EEA users)

We rely on contract performance (providing the service), legitimate interests (analytics and security), and consent where required (e.g. optional marketing). You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting lawfulness of prior processing.

Sharing and processors

We use trusted subprocessors for hosting, database, authentication, and AI inference (e.g. cloud infrastructure and API providers). They process data only on our instructions. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Retention

We keep account and profile data while your account is active. After deletion, we remove or anonymise data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your data, and to object to certain processing. Contact us at privacy@mentora.app. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. Analytics cookies, if used, will be described in a cookie notice when enabled.

Children

Mentora is intended for users aged 16 and older planning higher education abroad. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.
